Review by hotel critic
My recent stay at Domaine Des Agnelles was nothing short of enchanting. From the warm welcome by our gracious host, Mickey, to the charmingly decorated room that exuded comfort and cleanliness, every detail was impeccable. The honesty bar added a delightful touch, offering reasonably priced wine and beer to enjoy in the picturesque surroundings. One of the highlights of our stay was the delicious breakfast served between 9 am and 10 am. Homemade jams, cheeses, and hams made for a delightful morning spread, enjoyed in the outdoor dining room overlooking the inviting swimming pool, weather permitting. It truly set the tone for a perfect day of exploration in the Occitanie region, known for its abundant sunshine and exquisite wines. The property itself is a secluded haven, steeped in history and surrounded by lush gardens and tall trees, creating a serene atmosphere that invites relaxation. The saltwater infinity pool, with its view of the park, was a refreshing spot to unwind after a day of exploring the nearby coastal village of Gruissan, known for its authentic charm and bustling harbor filled with delectable seafood restaurants. As a history teacher, I appreciated the historical significance of the region, where Pope Innocent III once grappled with challenging circumstances. The Dutch couple who renovated this centuries-old building did a remarkable job preserving its character while providing modern comforts. The spacious rooms and private fridge drawer added a touch of convenience to our stay, allowing us to enjoy local cheeses and yogurts at our leisure.Domaine Des Agnelles exceeded all expectations, offering a perfect blend of historic charm, modern amenities, and warm hospitality. Whether lounging by the pool, exploring the nearby markets for fresh produce, or enjoying a wine tasting at a local chateau, every moment spent here was truly unforgettable. This beautiful destination is a must-visit for travelers seeking a unique and enriching experience in the heart of French wine country.
